Bolton’s Battle of the Wits

A charity quiz night organised by KBL Solicitors and Warings Chartered Accountants has raised over £600 for Bolton women’s refuge, Fortalice.

The event was attended by over 40 of Bolton’s professional community of bankers, accountants and solicitors.  Taking on new roles as quizmasters for the evening were KBL Partner Phil Stephenson and Waring’s Senior Partner Patrick Lydon. The winning team from Joe Egan Solicitor’s was ‘The Wood Street Ramblers’, whilst RBS won the prize for the Best Team Name with ‘Where’s The Red Cabbage’, a referral to the hot pot dinner served on the night.

The photo from left shows Phil Stephenson from KBL, Irena Stubbs from Fortalice, Patrick from Warings and Clare Egan and Pauline Whittaker from Joe Egan Solicitors.

KBL and Warings both have strong links with Fortalice. Warings have been their accountants for many years. Says Patrick: “It’s extremely important that Fortalice’s vital work in supporting women and children affected by domestic violence is maintained and we’re delighted to have been able to host the quiz and raise some much needed funds.”

Pat Lewis, the late wife of Stephen Lewis, one of the founders of KBL helped to established Fortalice 30 years ago. Phil says: “KBL are only too happy to see that Pat’s legacy is continued and we hope the charity will carry on providing a sanctuary to those in need for many years to come.”
