We advise as a team, making the best use of our collective knowledge but with one partner being personally responsible for each client’s affairs.
Bill McCarthy - Associate
Bill heads the provision of Accountancy Services within our Business Solutions Department.
Bill started his career in accountancy in 1974, joining Warings in 1990. Whilst having over 30 years’ experience, he continues with great enthusiasm to assist new and growing businesses in their further development.
Whilst specialising in advising sole traderships and partnerships, he also has substantial experience in the preparation of business plans and forecasts, most typically in securing business funding requirements.

Christine Maxwell- Hodkinson BA(Hons) FCCA – Business Solutions Manager
Educated at Canon Slade School and Manchester University, Christine joined Warings in September 2010 having had over 20 years’ experience of both accounts preparation and auditing at two other local accountancy practices.
She qualified in 1995 and brings with her a vast amount of experience of dealing with various small, medium and large companies including charities.
Christine is Business Solutions Manager and oversees the training development of its staff, whilst ensuring the quality and efficiency of the service to all of our clients.

Chris Thomson – Tax Manager
Chris joined Warings in April 2008, bringing with him over 20 years’ experience of personal tax work in private practice.
He now heads our personal tax team with overall responsibility for the management of personal tax client services.

Tricia Cubbins CTA – Assistant Tax Manager
Tricia joined Warings in May 2008 and assists Chris Thomson in the management of our Personal Tax Department.
Tricia qualified as a member of The Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1993, having trained with a leading national practice.
Whilst advising our clients in regard to their personal tax affairs, her specialist areas include capital gains tax and the taxation of trusts.

Gill Chivers – Administration Manager
Gill has over 25 years’ experience in administration within accountancy practices.
In addition to being Patrick Lydon’s PA, she manages the firm’s administration department.
Gill is also responsible for the administration of the Company Secretarial function for many of our corporate clients.

Judith Lydon
Judith has worked for Warings for the last 8 years on a part-time basis. Anything relating to the firm that is not technical is her department. This covers a multitude of things – from managing the website; directing inquiries from the site to the appropriate staff member; to buying important office supplies from the cash-and-carry and organising the office ‘do’s’.
Judith is also responsible for promoting the Warings profile in the Bolton and surrounding area through marketing in various media. Warings have many connections both professionally and socially in Bolton and part of Judith’s job is to help increase and enrich these relationships to the benefit of the business and our clients.
Judith also represents Warings on the Fund Raising Committee at Bolton Hospice and liaises with the other charities that we are proud to support eg Fortalice, Bolton Lads and Girls Club. We have sponsored the annual Ladies Lunch for Bolton Hospice for the last 7 years. She also works with the management team at The Octagon where we have been Corporate Sponsors for the last 7 years. In 2010 we held a very successful quiz for Professionals at the Octagon where we raised a substantial amount for Bolton Deaf Society.
